·Accountable for the handover and takeover of incoming and outgoing shift information related to patients in the unit or ward, which includes introductions, patient files, medication charts, investigation reports, and intake and output charts, among others.
·Tasked with providing direct patient care throughout the shift in a calm, courteous, and tactful manner.
·Responsible for ensuring the quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, and making or recommending necessary adjustments.
·Charged with resolving patient problems and needs by employing multi-disciplinary team strategies.
·In charge of preparing medication requisitions and administering medications.
·Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean working environment by following established procedures, rules, and regulations.
·Tasked with protecting patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and regulations regarding controlled substances.
·Facilitates doctors and consultants during their rounds in the unit or ward and records their instructions.
·Assists doctors with any procedures they may need to perform, preparing patients physically and emotionally for these procedures and ensuring that all necessary equipment is available.
·Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete documentation of nursing care and utilizing correct charting techniques in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
·Carries out doctors' orders as prescribed and addresses any concerns regarding prescribed treatments.
·Ensures that the medical supply requirements for the unit or ward are well-stocked, properly stored, and readily accessible.
·Responsible for checking and recording blood sugar levels.
·Draws blood and performs other laboratory procedures on patients.
·Checks and records vital signs, particularly for pre-operative and post-operative patients.
·Performs IV cannulation on patients, adhering to the Clinical IPPs policy manual.
·Responsible for notifying and reporting incidents as required.
·Tasked with overseeing Nurse Aids, Student Nurses, and similar personnel.
·Accountable for executing assigned patient and non-patient related responsibilities as instructed by the Ward in charge or Nursing Coordinator.
·Obligated to carry out any additional tasks as designated by the Supervisor or Head of the Department.
